
Tanja Fajon, the head of the European Parliament Delegation to the EU-Serbia Stabilisation and Association Committee, called politicians to make sure the June 21 elections in Serbia are free and fair.
“The situation in Serbia is very difficult. Democracy is on the decline. I take this and similar warnings ahead of the elections very seriously. I call on all politicians to do their utmost to ensure free and fair elections. No one needs to fear or worry to vote or to criticize,” Fajon wrote on he Twitter account.
In a separate Tweet Fajon warned that there is no freedom of the press in Serbia, adding that situation in the country is worrying.
She tweeted that the part of the Serbian opposition advocating a boycott has the support of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament.
