Foreign Affairs Minister Ivica Dacic said he does not know whether Serbia's health institutions would respond to Montenegro and explain how a sharp drop in the number of people suffering from COVID-19 in Serbia came about, which Podgorica requested in order to open its borders with Serbia, and added that closing the borders was an "unnecessary politicization of already existing problems ".

Dacic told TV Prva that authorities in Podgorica „want to aggravate the situation with Serbia as much as possible“, and that the decision to ban travel to Montenegro „only harms“ the citizens of that country.

Dacic said that the Montenegrin President, Milo Djukanovic, can no longer count on the votes of Serbs and another part of the voters due to the current situation with the Orthodox Church there and that he “must now gather anti-Serbian actors“ in order to stay in power.
