Serbia’s President and leader of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), Aleksandar Vucic, called on citizens to vote on June 21 and said the goal of his party is to get more than 50 percent of the vote.
Vucic pointed out that everyone would unite against him if the SNS received less than half of the votes. He argued that the fact that political parties did not react to recent “anti-state” statements by Bosniak representative in Sandzak, Sulejman Ugljanin, indicates that.
„Instead of a reaction, everyone united against me, and that would also be the case the day after the elections if they received more than 50 percent of the vote,“ Vucic said.
He said that the coronavirus should not delay the elections, but that it could if the number of fatalities increases and he stressed that all protection measures must be in place at all polling stations.
