European Commission spokeswoman Ana Pisonero said that there is no reason for Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic not to come to Brussels on Sunday to resume the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue because the events in Belgrade over the past two days are not linked to that meeting.
She said that the European Commission is carefully following those events and that they are a cause for concern. Pisonero said that protecting lives must be the priority and added that it is up to the authorities to decide which measures to introduce to suppress the coronavirus threat.
The European Union High Representative’s spokesman Peter Stano said that he expects the dialogue to resume on Sunday, adding that the meeting will not be a once-off event with some huge outcome but the continuing of the process to normalize relations between the two sides. He said that the EU is a mediator in the dialogue and wants to see them reach a comprehensive, legally binding agreement to normalize their relations.
