Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo Prime Minister Avdulah Hoti expressed different views of their video conference on Friday with Vucic saying that Pristina’s demands are unacceptable and Hoti insisting that a final agreement has to be in line Kosovo’s constitution.

Vucic and Hoti met via video link for a conference hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Also present were European Union High Representative Josep Borell and his special envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Miroslav Lajcak. Vucic and Hoti were scheduled to meet face-to-face in Brussels on Sunday but that meeting has been rescheduled for next Thursday.

Vucic said that the demands coming from Pristina are “impossible, unrealistic and unacceptable”. “The Albanian side came up with demands on preserving the territorial integrity and constitutional order of Kosovo, lasting mutual recognition, UN membership and recognition by the European Union member states that have not done so yet before tackling missing persons and war reparations,” Vucic told the pro-authorities TV Pink.

“I said that Serbia is prepared to talk but won’t accept ultimatums and orders,” he added.

Hoti told Pristina media after the video conference that Kosovo’s territorial integrity is indisputable and cannot be subject to negotiation. He added that a final agreement between Belgrade and Pristina should result in Kosovo getting a seat in the United Nations.

He said that the fate of the missing has to be resolved and “justice found for all victims of all forms of violence committed by Serbia during the war”. Hoti said that Pristina is prepared to continue the dialogue based on those principles.
