Situation regarding Covid-19 far more serious than expected, official says
The situation regarding the coronavirus pandemic in Serbia is far more serious than expected and that the previous strategy to prevent its spread has failed, member of the Crisis Staff fighting the spread of the disease, Predrag Kon said on Sunday, adding that a new strategy is needed.
The effects of mandatory protective masks in indoor places should be seen soon, Kon said, adding that if the virus transmission continues to increase, a state of emergency or emergency measures may be reintroduced.
The strategy relied heavily on the expectation that virus transmission would be significantly reduced during the summer, but the opposite happened. The situation in Belgrade is worse than in April, he said noting that it is necessary to avoid large gatherings.
Speaking for Prva television, Kon stated that it is necessary to update the data from the entire territory of Serbia since there are differences in the data from the field.
