A press release from the Swedish embassy in Belgrade said that the government decided to change the temporary ban on entry into Sweden. “As a result of this change, residents of Serbia and Montenegro will no longer be exempted from the entry ban,” it said and addded that the decision is in line with the Council of the European Union’s recommendation.

The Swedish government decision comes after Serbia was removed from the list of countries whose nationals can travel saely to the EU. The only exceptions are people with residence permits and students.

“To mitigate the effects of the spread of COVID-19 and reduce the outbreak, a temporary ban on entry to the EU via Sweden is in force. On 2 July the Government decided to extend the entry ban until 31 August 2020,” the press release said.
