Belgrade, Egis Group sign contract to draft metro feasibility study

The contract was signed by officials from the city administration, the Belgrade Metro company and Egis in the cabinet of Construction and Infrastructure Minister Zorana Mihajlovic. The signing ceremony was attended by French Ambassador Jean-Louis Falconi.

A press release said that the feasibility study is the start of the biggest infrastructure investment in this part of Europe worth six billion Dinars and added that the cost of the study will be covered by a donation from France. Mihajlovic said that study will be completed in 18 months when the construction of the 60 kilometers of metro lines will begin.

“The Belgrade metro is one of the most demanding projects that we have started and would not possible if Serbia and France did not have good relations thanks to Presidents Aleksandar Vucic and Emmanuel Macron. The project requires the best companies and a stable government to implement it. This investment is significant for the further development of our country because the crisis will pass and the economy and investments have to move forward,” the minister is quoted as saying.
