The US Embassy in Belgrade said on Wednesday that official Washington is proud of its partnership with civil society in Serbia which has an important role to play in making the country more democratic.
The U.S. Government is proud of our continuing partnership with civil society institutions in Serbia in addressing important needs. Together, with the Government of Serbia, we have made great progress over the past two decades, though we also recognize there is still work to be done, it said in a press release.
“Civil society organizations in Serbia have an important role to play in helping find solutions that will make this a more democratic, prosperous, and stable country. As President Vucic himself stated recently, “It is important in any country for the civil sector to be strong,” it added.
The press release said that no government can provide all of the answers to the challenges it confronts on a daily basis. “Problems ranging from disease to poverty to injustice are best solved with the input of other actors, including academia, think tanks, religious institutions, and civil society,” it said.
