Nebojsa Stefanovic, Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister and also the Interior Minister is on a visit to Azerbaijan after it was disclosed that the weapons from Serbia exported to Armenia ended in the Yerevan – Baku recent armed conflict.

Stefanovic’s Ministry said in a statement that he met the Azerbaijan Security Council secretary Ramil Usubov and the country president’s advisor Hikmet Hajiyev, to discuss the current cooperation between the two countries and the possibility of its improvement, particularly in the security issues.

“The interlocutors agree that firm and friendly relations exist between the two head of states, Aleksandar Vucic and Ilham Aliyev and that there is a great capacity for the further cooperation,” the statement said.

It added that the meeting agenda included other significant issues of mutual interest.

Stefanovic has recently expressed condolences to the Azerbaijan ambassador to Serbia Eldar Hasanov, following the death of 18 Azarabeijan soldiers in the border conflict with Armenian forces.

The diplomatic ties between Belgrade and Baku were shaken after the haqqin.az website published on July 19, that Serbia-made mortars and shells were sold to Armenia via Georgia and that they were used during the conflict on the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia on July 12.
