The United Group (UG) said on Tuesday it should not be used in political showdowns in Serbia and that it was "absolutely unclear" what the Group had to do "with business problems Telekom Srbija is facing."

It added it „has nothing to do with politics in Serbia or any other country, and that is why linking our company to political players or parties is a malicious attack with the only goal to damage the reputation that United Group enjoys in Serbia.“

„It is especially worrying that Telekom Srbija opts for unfounded accusations against United Group which has nothing to do with that business, instead of explaining to the public the irrationality in its own business. Telekom even accuses United Group of industrial espionage.“

„Unfortunately, the top state officials, helped by ‘co-financed’ tabloids, are also taking part in the attacks, openly favouring a state-owned company to the detriment of a privately-owned firm, violating the Constitution and Serbia’s laws,“ UG said.

The Group added that „the latest illogical attack“ ignored the fact that „United Group cooperated quite correctly with the company Wireless Media, indicating there is no interest or a motive to comment on how it deals with the business of the company or even the partners.“

„Therefore, we appeal to all political players in Serbia, whether from the government or the opposition, not to use United Group in their mutual confrontations which we haven’t had, nor want to have any connection with. United Group will continue to fight for a fair and honest competition of all actors in the market. Our strength is in our customers, viewers and the quality of the provided services,“ it said.

N1 TV is a part of the United Group.
