UNESCO’s Vojin Rakic sues Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic for libel

Vojin Rakic, Director of the Center for the Study of Bioethics and Head of the European Division of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics, filed charges against Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic to a Belgrade’s court on Monday, for “the untruths about my role in the Division and insults which aimed at violating my scientific and moral integrity” the Division reported on Tuesday.

The Division’s statement added the charges referred to Vucic’s news conference in Brussels on September 7, when “answering a reporter’s question used vulgar insults, inappropriate for a head of state.”

It added that some pro-regime media in Serbia carried Vucic’s words.

Rakic is Chair of the Cambridge Working Group for Bioethics Education in Serbia, heads the Serbian Unit of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics, his official CV says.

It adds Rakic holds a PhD in Political Science from Rutgers University in the United States (1998), after graduating in philosophy in Serbia, and obtaining the MA degrees in European Studies from the Central European University in Prague and the Department of Political Science of Rutgers University.
