Renting housing most expensive in Belgrade

A real estate portal said on Thursday that the average rental cost of housing in Belgrade is much higher than in other Serbian cities.

The 4zida.rs portal said that the average price of a studio apartment in the Serbian capital is 200 Euro a month which is the price of a two-room apartment in the southern city of Nis.  

The size of apartments in Serbia is expressed in numbers of rooms (not just bedrooms) and square meters.  

According to the portal, the average monthly rental price for a one-room apartment in Belgrade is 250 Euro, a two-room furnished apartment 400 Euro and a three-room apartment 600 Euro. “The price of four-room apartments in Belgrade is more than twice that of three-room apartments and is 1,300 Euro on average while the average price of a five-room apartment is 1,570 Euro,” the portal’s spokeswoman Jasmina Gavrilov Drazic said.  

She said that large apartments are rare on the Belgrade rental market and are mainly luxury housing in what is perceived as elite neighborhoods. According to the portal, the average price of studio apartements in the northern city of Novi Sad is 180 Euro while one-room apartments cost an average 270 Euro, three-room apartments cost more than 400 Euro a month and four-room apartments go for 540 Euro. A studio apartment in Nis costs 120 Euro a month and two-room apartments cost 190 Euro, three-room apartments cost 260 Euro and four-room 400 Euro.
