Belgrade Mayor Zoran Radojicic said on Friday the coronavirus pandemic has flared up in the Serbian capital, adding that the city authorities will step up their efforts to control it.
“We will certainly step up control and fines but our goal is not to establish the situation that we want in that way,” the mayor told the Serbian state TV (RTS). He said that the danger lies in the fact that the new coronavirus cases are not in clusters but spread out across the city.
Radojicic said that the communal police and city inspectors check more than 100 restaurants, cafes and retail outlets and hand out fines.
