The Share Foundation is charging 16 technology corporations for failing to name their representatives in Serbia as they are obliged to do under the law on personal data protection, the Beta news agency reported on Friday.

“The first charges were filed against Google and Facebook and, following correspondence with our representatives, Google LLC was the first and so far the only techno giant to name a representative in Serbia. Marc Zucerberg’s corporation did not even answer our representative,” a press release said.

The charges were filed with the Commissioner for personal data protection who can order inspections and fine companies and their CEOs, the press release said and warned that the fines under Serbian law are low but would show that the Serbian authorities are implementing the law which protects individuals when companies fail to abide by regulations.
