Choir recites words of victims of domestic violence

This was the protest choir’s first performance in front of a state institution, N1’s reporter said adding that the choir plans to stage performances in front of the city police headquarters, Social Services Center and other institutions that women and children who fall victim to domestic violence turn to.  

Festival spokeswoman Jelena Andjelkovski said that text of the recital was based on reports on domestic violence which came from organizations dealing with the problem and the media. She said that it was written so that the victims could not be identified. She said that this was the protest choir’s second performance meant to encourage the public to report violence and exert some pressure on institutions.

The festival opened on September 21 and will close on October 10.
