The Republic Statistics Office (RZS) said on Friday that the census which was planned for April will be conducted in October 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic.
It said that the decision was taken because the pandemic could seriously endanger preparations and the conducting of the 2021 census.
The RZS said that all planned preparations for the census have been completed to date and added that activities which require direct contact between instructors, census takers, commission members and other personnel will be completed before the census.
It said that some 20,000 people would be trained as instructors and census takers between January and March next year. It said that the decision to postpone the census was taken after considering information and plans from other countries which use the same census methods.
