The United Against COVID (UPC) group said that all the conditions have been met to declare an emergency situation in Serbia because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The UPC, a civic association formed following a petition by doctors and nurses in protest over the activities of the government’s pandemic crisis staff, recalled that the law defines an emergency situation, an epidemic and the measures that can be implemented and by which state bodies – the Health Ministry, Commission for infectious diseases and Public Health Institute.
The UPC said that “the body named the crisis staff (response team) does not exist in any legal regulation”, “especially not the component that are termed medical and political parts in the public”. “There is no dilemma under the law, those parts of that body do not exist … not even under the acts used to form the crisis staff,” it said.
