Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Monday that the authorities would do everything possible to get a coronavirus vaccine by the end of the year.
“We will try to get 500,000 doses to vaccinate at least half a million people, reduce the pressure on hospitals, make health care staff safe,” he said, adding that he doesn’t care where the vaccine comes from as long as the Serbian health authorities approve it. “I can’t guarantee anything but I will do my best to get a large amount,” he said in a live appearance on the pro-regime Happy TV
.
“For us, the vaccine is life, primarily the life of young people, for us the vaccine is also the economy,” he said. According to Vucic, the vaccine is important because the people cannot be forced to be disciplined. “We have to vaccinate people to save lives, to save our economy,” he addded.
