Epidemiologist says coronavirus could close schools soon

Serbian Epidemiologist Srdja Jankovic said on Monday that there is no need to close schools at present but added that the moment is close when classes will have to be taught online.

The government Crisis Staff doctor said that he can’t say exactly when all schools in Serbia will have to move to online classes. The decision will be taken based on an assessment of coronavirus infection levels in schools. “Now is not that moment but there are whole schools changing to online classes when students and teachers are infected,” Jankovic told the pro-goverment TV Pink.

He warned that the situation in Serbia is “extremely serious” and added that he will urge stricter measures to complement the ones due to take effect on Tuesday. “There is no alternative to avoiding contact,” he said.
