Talking to N1, Viola von Cramon said when domestic development in Serbia was looked at, the good news was that the EU finally applied the new methodology which meant that if we didn't see progress, it was fair enough to say we couldn't grant you a new chapter.
Von Cramon said that "everyone in Serbia knows that we in the European Union are sure that Serbia belongs to the European Union, that you need to become a member and that you are committed."
She added there was a long way to go "and that we have to go together."
"And everyone in Serbia who could participate in this to do this effectively," she said.
Asked about the way her tweetwas understood in Serbia as she was celebrating the decision not to open any chapter, and some negative reactions by some politicians, von Cramon said that “it was always nice to have someone to blame for your failures and that’s something that all politicians do.”
“I can live with that easily,” she said, adding that Serbia’s politicians would be interested in the result of what we finally voted for, a majority in the European Parliament voted for and that we should now work together to have another outcome, more progress next year in the Serbian domestic politics.”
