"Everything that was invested in previous years was not enough to reduce C02. That is why the Ministry will completely change its investment plans in 2021, and more than 1.5 billion euros will go only to energy efficiency and pollution reduction," she told the online conference"The World in 2021."

She reminded that today the world emits close to 30 billion tons of CO2 a year and more than 350,000 tons in Serbia.

Mihajlovic added that energy and mining in Serbia could not develop without environmental security.

"We will do everything so that every citizen has the opportunity to increase energy efficiency in apartments and houses because that is the way to save energy. The energy we produce, distribute and consume must be healthy, green," said Mihajlovic.

As she specified, plans will be made to reduce the production of electricity from coal in phases, step by step.

"Let's try not to consume so much, because it is low-calorie, of low quality, and mostly produces environmental pollution, and turn to renewable sources, energy efficiency. To use more biomass and use energy-efficient plants. If we don't do that, then Serbia's energy sector has no prospects," Mihajlovic added.
