Serbia’s Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and European Commissioner for Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi discussed on Monday the Government's plan and the efforts it would make towards the European Union membership and agreed it was essential for Belgrade to speed up the reforms.
According to the statement from Brnabic’s office, she reiterated full EU membership remains a strategic priority of the Government and said Belgrade would continue to work on comprehensive reforms, especially in the area of the rule of law.
Belgrade did not open any new chapter in talks with the EU in 2020, due to the bloc's assessment that there was a lack of democracy in Serbia.
Brnabic was quoted as saying she highly appreciated Várhelyi’s commitment to enabling a certain amount of vaccines against COVID-19 to be delivered to the Western Balkans’ countries as soon as possible.
