Montenegro’s caretaker Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic denied claims that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is running things in his country.

Abazovic told Podgorica daily Vijesti that the claims about Vucic have been blown out of proprotion. “I think the perception of his influence in Montenegro is exaggerated and I think that this creates an environment favorable for him,” he said. According to Abazovic, Vucic has an excellent PR strategy.

“I am constantly being attacked that Vucic is running something here. I reject that, I don’t take it seriously… The whole story about Vucic has been in the context of creating some negative political narrative against myself,” he said adding that his relationship with the Serbian President is appropriate and friendly just like his relationships with other top officials in neighboring countries.

“I am glad that I have the kind of relations with him, the prime ministers of Albania, Kosovo and the head of the Bosnia-Herzegovina government that every prime minister of Montenegro should have,” Abazovic said.
