The Serbian Academic Solidarity and Engagement Network (MASA) warned of possible organized violence against protesting students and professors who stand with them. Pročitaj više

MASA is an independent expert organization. “We all have to know that organized violence against absolutely everyone is the next stage,” it said in a press release which condemned pro-regime tabloid attacks on Belgrade University Rector Vladan Djokic.

“The regime has entered a new stage in openly targeting certain professors in the style of the worst dictators in history. The purpose of the insults is not just pressure on what could be the only free institution but also to demonstrate the power to silence the truth,” the MASA press release said.

It called all teachers and researchers to close ranks and show solidarity and added that the authorities are replacing their “student mercenaries” rhetoric with the words “evil bought professors” whose arrest is being called for by pro-regime tabloids.
