The Vojvodina city of Zrenjanin has had serious problems with its water supply for households for years, with the water coming out of faucets not fit for human or animal consumption.
Baculov was sentenced to 30 days house arrest for causing a public hazard when he spilled the liquid from the tanker he drove up to city hall. He told N1 that the water was from Zrenjanin. The liquid was spilled during a protest over the deaths of 14 people when a roof collapsed at the Novi Sad railway station on November 1.
The Serbian Public Health Institute issued a warning saying that the fecal liquids could cause serious health issues.
“The ruling is proof that people who committed no crimes are being processed while the people in power commit much worse crimes like the one at the railway station and were not even questioned,” he said and added that he decided to take action on his own when he realized that information was being leaked. “This does not include arson, breakage or violence. This is series of events to compromise the authorities,” he said.
