The court has overturned the conviction of the activists who were detained following their blockade of the Belgrade Center railway station during the protest against lithium mining held on August 10 in Belgrade, and they have been released.

Their lawyer, Marko Pantic, posted a joint photo with the freed activists on the social network X, with the comment: “Freedom!”

“We have been informed that the conviction has been overturned, the appeal has been upheld, and the case will proceed through regular legal channels. I called the court, and they confirmed this, saying that the decision will soon be published on their website,“ Pantic previously explained.

Ivan Bjelic, Nikola Ristic, and Jevdjenije-Julijan Dimitrijevic were sentenced to prison terms of 40 and 30 days, respectively, for disturbing public peace and order.

An appeal was submitted to the Misdemeanor Court in Belgrade on Monday, challenging the ruling sentencing the three activists to prison terms.
