The leader of the ‘Kreni-Promeni’ movement, Savo Manojlovic, said that Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic is trying to sway public opinion in order to change the attitude of the citizens towards the lithium mine and that he is always doing this through other people because he “does not have the courage” to state his position on the issue.

„He is now trying to sway public opinion, according to the research we did, even his electorate does not agree on this topic,“ Manojlovic told N1.

Activist Marijana Petkovic meanwhile rejected the accusations of the pro-government media that the activists fighting against the construction of lithium mines are being paid by foreign actors.

„If we wanted to be paid, then Rio Tinto would be enough,“ she argued.

Chemistry professor Nada Bakic stated that the new Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Djedovic, did not announce anything new compared to her predecessor.

She pointed out that the pollution occurred when the exploratory wells were being drilled and that the analysis showed that there was an excessive concentration of potassium permanganate in the water, which, she said indicated a high concentration of carcinogenic organic substances.

„If the mine opens, there will be no life here, everyone should leave,“ Bakic warned.
