Air Serbia said on Thursday that it carried 2.76 million passengers this year, more than in all of 2022.
Air Serbia has been plagued by delays for months with some flights, both regular and charter, suffering delays of more than 8 hours out of Belgrade airport in some cases.
A press release said that the Serbian national airline expects to fly more than the 2.81 million passengers recorded in 2019 by the end of September this year.
„The current summer season will be remembered for numerous challenges. Bad weather conditions, frequent refueling bans, insufficient staff at airports, a global shortage of spare parts, and other unfavorable circumstances have affected the operations throughout the summer. Despite it all, during July and August, we carried over a million passengers to more than 80 destinations worldwide, thus breaking our records set even before the COVID-19 pandemic. The most intensive month was July, during which we carried 27 per cent more passengers compared to July 2022, and 39 per cent more compared to the same month in 2019. Good results were also recorded in August, which was our 14th consecutive record-breaking month. At this moment, we are already intensively preparing for the upcoming winter season, which is expected to be very dynamic,“ the press release quoted Air Serbia CEO Jiri Marek as saying.
