An Air Serbia plane on a flight to Moscow was forced to return to Belgrade airport on Friday after a bomb threat was called in.

An N1 reporter at the airport said that the police evacuated the aircraft as soon as it landed and parked away from the terminal buildings.

The Air Serbia crew contacted the police after receiving an e-mail claiming that an explosive device had been planted inside the aircraft. “The aircraft was ordered to return to Belgrade airport in line with air traffic security procedures,” an Internal Affairs Ministry press release said adding that bomb squad officers searched the plane.

Air Serbia and the airport authorities refused comments for N1, referring the reporter to the police.

The police said later that the bomb threat was false.
