Air Serbia said on Thursday that it will be flying from Belgrade to the city of Trieste in northern Italy twice a week.
“Flights to the Serbian national airline’s fourth destination in Italy, after Rome, Milan and Venice, will be operated two times a week,” a press release said adding that the first flight “will be welcomed with a traditional water salute at Ronchi dei Legionari international airport”.
It quoted Air Serbia official Bojan Arandjelovic as saying the Serbian national airline is “convinced the new flights will contribute to even better connectivity and improvement of commercial and tourist activities between our two countries”.
It also quoted Trieste Airport CEO Marco Consalvo as saying that the decision to resume flights between Belgrade and Trieste “will definitely contribute to improve the economic relations of our region with the Republic of Serbia as well as serve the large Serbian community living in our area”.
Air Serbia said the flights are scheduled to connect with a number of its destinations. It plans to launch services to Bologna and Bari soon.
