Serbia's flag carrier 'Air Serbia' introduced on Tuesday direct flights between the southern city of Nis and Istanbul in Turkey.

The company said it would fly on that route twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Senior sales manager at 'Air Serbia,' Bosko Rupic, added it was important for the south of Serbia to be connected to Istanbul, one of the most popular destinations from its network.

"Turkey is a significant market for us, and we are very pleased that by improving our offer, we will contribute to strengthening commercial and tourist activity between our two countries," he said.

'Air Serbia' one-way tickets on this route cost 2,478 dinars, while the lowest return ticket price is 7,434 dinars (1€ = 118 dinars).

The company will operate regular flights from Nis airport to Belgrade, Frankfurt (Han), Cologne and Ljubljana in the coming days.

Its flights will include Nis-Tivat (Montenegrin coastal town) and Nis-Athens during the summer season.

"' Air Serbia' will operate on the new lines from Nis until December 31, 2023, based on the results of the tender for the provision of air transport services on lines of public interest announced by Serbia's Government," the company statement added.
