Albania PM warns of threats to North Macedonia, Montenegro

Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama warned on Monday of unspecified threats to the stability of NATO members North Macedonia and Montenegro.
“Threats against the stability and integrity of North Macedonia and Montenegro are dangerous and unacceptable,” Rama wrote in a Twitter post.
“Let's not forget that Albania, North Macedonia and Montenegro are NATO allies fully dedicated to the security and territorial integrity of one another. We have achieved in the last decade in this region what no one could even imagine in endless decades before and we cannot and will not allow anyone to pull us back in the past we are leaving behind for good! Together! Greater Europe is our only future,” he added.
The Albanian Prime Minister did not specify the threats or who is behind them. According to Albanian extreme nationalist policies, Greater Albania would include parts of North Macedonia and Montenegro as well as Kosovo.

Rama’s post comes after last week’s visit to North Macedonia by Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti. He visited two municipalities with predominantly ethnic Albanian populations and was met with Albanian flags and other nationalist paraphernalia drawing a protest from North Macedonia’s President Stevo Pendarovski. Rama has spoken out against Kurti’s decisions in the past.
It also comes a day after Serbian Defense Minister Milos Vucevic said that recognition of Kosovo would come back to haunt Montenegro and North Macedonia. “You made a mistake and it will come back to haunt you just as it has in Ukraine to everyone who promoted Kosovo as an independent country,” he told the pro-regime TV Pink.
