Albanian Post: France demands delay in Vote on Kosovo CoE membership

It quoted unnamed diplomatic sources who said that CoE member county ambassadors are expected to meet before Wednesday’s Committee of Ministers session which was due to vote on Pristina’s application for membership. It added that France requested the postponement on Tuesday because of the failure of the Kosovo government to make headway in forming the Community of Serb Municipalities (CSM). It said that it seems clear that Germany shares that view.

According to Albanian Post, France, Germany and Italy feel that Kosovo’s membership in CoE should be postponed until Pristina proves that it is committed to forming the CSM.

“Albanian Post has learned that tomorrow the ambassadors of the member countries of the Council of Europe are expected not to include the issue of Kosovo's membership in the May ministerial program,” it said.
