There is no opposition organization with a different stance on banning lithium and boron exploitation, stated Miroslav Aleksic, Headof the National Movement of Serbia. "We all seem to agree on this; it's an issue that has united the opposition," he noted. Pročitaj više
In an N1 interview, Aleksic noted that activists led the protests against lithium mining over the summer, which is understandable, but the opposition will not stay on the sidelines.
„Next week, opposition parties will take action. We aren’t sitting idle,“ Aleksic said.
He added that opposition parties have plans against lithium mining that align with activists, emphasizing this is a shared fight for Serbia’s future.
„This resistance is our obligation because we don’t have another country, and no one has the right to usurp it,“ Aleksic stressed.
The lithium issue has united the opposition beyond politics, he added.
He reiterated that Serbia’s institutions do not function, the police are deeply politicized, acting selectively, and protecting the regime, while citizens are being ignored.
At a parliamentary defence committee session, they asked why activists’ homes were raided. „They impose fear and repression on citizens exercising their constitutional right to protest,“ Aleksic told N1, questioning the government’s defense of citizens in Kosovo.
While Serbs are being removed from institutions in northern Kosovo, Serbia’s President is busy with reality shows, diverting attention from Kosovo issues, Aleksic said.
He criticized President Vucic’s contradictory statements regarding his participation at the BRICS Summit, claiming that Serbia and its citizens suffer from his mistakes.
„We’ll pay a high price for this ‘flirtation’ in foreign policy,“ Aleksic concluded.
