Pavle Zelic from the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices (ALIMS) in Serbia said on Saturday that all reactions to coronavirus vaccines are intensively monitored and that side effects have been reported in a total of 755 cases, which means that one such reaction was recorded in 3,973 vaccinated citizens.

Speaking to RTS he said that all those reactions were mild, that they referred to swelling, redness, high fever, muscle pain, and they were all gone within a few days.

Zelic also appealed to citizens to trust the health workers, to consult about vaccines and drugs and not to look for „cheap answers“ in some other places, such as social networks, where „one paragraph denies what is on thousands of pages (of a scientific research).”

When asked to comment on the fact that the AstraZeneca vaccine caused the most doubts, Zelic said that no competent international body, the World Health Organization (WHO), the European Medicines Agency (EMA), as well as the ALIMS, have ever issued a restriction on the use of that vaccine.

Speaking about the Moderna vaccine, Zelic stated that a request for its registration in Serbia has not been submitted yet, that they are in negotiations and that it is expected that it will also be offered to patients. He pointed out that Serbia has enough vaccines, that more than 3.5 million doses of several manufacturers „entered the country“ which is „more than enough for the immunization“ for now.
