Almost 6,000 deaths from lung diseases in 2023

The Serbian Patients’ Forum said that 5,700 people died of lung disease in 2023 with more than 15,000 admitted to hospital with respiratory infections.

The head of the Serbian Clinical Center’s Pulmology Clinic Mihailo Stjepanovic said that pneumococcal vaccine has been mandatory for children since 2017 and is available for anyone over the age of 65 as well as for patients with chronic ailments.

The Forum appealed to the public to get the free vaccine.
