The number of live births in the first half of this year was 28,813, which is 1.7 percent less than in the same period last year, while the number of deaths increased by 27.6 percent, to 65,817, the Republic Bureau of Statistics reported on Monday.

The most children were born in March this year - 5,349, and the most people died - 12,952.

In 2020, the number of live births in Serbia was 61,693, and the number of deaths was 114,954.

The highest number of live births was in July 2020 - 5,896 and deaths in December - 17,321.
