US Ambassador to Belgrade Christopher Hill said journalists in Serbia still face too much risk doing their jobs and that he awaits justice for the killers of journalist and publisher Slavko Curuvija.

On the occasion of the 24th anniversary of Curuvija’s murder Hill posted his photo on social networks along with a message that Serbia has the chance to show the world how much it has changed since 1999.

“I find hope in Martin Luther King’s words: ‘The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice,’” the Ambassador wrote.

Curuvija was killed outside his home in downtown Belgrade on April 11, 1999, yet the court has still not delivered a final verdict.
