French Ambassador Pierre Cochard said on Friday that France is counting on Serbia to help restore peace and stability in Europe.

The Ambassador said in a video message on the 2nd anniversary of the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine that France is determined to work with its European partners to restore peace and stability to the continent and is counting on Serbia to join in without hesitation.

“The French and the Serbians were united in the face of danger once. The danger threatening our Europe is no less great today. A victory of Russian tyranny over Ukraine would expose our two countries to the permanent threat of destabilization and spreading war. Allowing this regime to win would not bring a solution to inflation or the energy crisis in a situation in which Russia is the source of the current general inflation and food insecurity,” the ambassador said.

Cochard recalled that thousands of young Russians who chose freedom instead of war and fled corruption and terror found refuge in Serbia and thanked “the Serbian people, allies of France, for remaining faithful to its values of hospitality and brotherhood”.
