The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) protested over the decision by the Kosovo authorities “apriori censoring and imposing a selectively controled approach to information for Belgrade-based media and Kosovo-based Serbian-language media outlets”.
A press release recalled that a large number of voters are Kosovo Serbs and that a language barrier exists and added that limiting reporting by Serbian-language media denies voters the right to be informed in their own language about the election process and outcome of the elections.
ANEM called the authorities in Pristina to review their decision and allow Serbian-language media to report on the local elections on Sunday, October 12.
