The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) warned on Monday that a media campaign is underway targeting an outspoken critic of the Serbian regime as well as the N1 and Nova TV stations.

A press release said that a video posted on the X network targeted lawyer Ivan Ninić and targeting broadcasters Nova S and N1 in what ANEM sees as an inadmissible call for a lynching.
“In the video published on the social network X, the lawyer Ivan Ninic was targeted through text and image, along with lies and brutal Satanization. In the last ten months, Ninic is known for his legal and advocacy support for students and activists, who are daily exposed to pressure and arrests by the authorities, as well as for his public statements regarding the violation of human rights and the abuse of institutions,” the press release said.
The post on the @MilicMilko99 profile titled - Serbian services prove that every traitor will be discovered and arrested - included “dangerous falsehoods”, ANEM said adding that it accused Ninic of being a CIA agent cooperating with “the Albanian occupiers of Kosovo”. The post claimed that N1 and Nova TV stations were destabilizing Serbia, “continuing the long-term campaign targeting those newsrooms”.

“We remind you that in a similar way, with a media lynching and broadcast of a video full of lies, the Kosovo politician Oliver Ivanovic was also targeted, who was killed shortly afterwards in 2018. In the past two decades, five lawyers were murdered in Serbia – two murders were resolved with final verdicts. Three journalists were also killed, and none of the cases were solved,” ANEM said.
“Violence against citizens is becoming more frequent, and impunity for the perpetrators – whether they come from the party-organized structures of the ruling party or from the police ranks that constantly exceed their powers – is becoming the rule. The unprecedented practice of presidential amnesties also contributes to this. In such an atmosphere, it is of crucial importance that everyone knows that they are not alone – that they will always be able to count on legal and media support,” the ANEM press release said.
