Anniversary of mass murder in Malo Orasje and Dubona when nine young people were killed
A year has passed since the mass murder in the villages of Malo Orasje and Dubona, when 21-year-old Uros Blazic killed nine and wounded thirteen people. The youngest victim was fourteen-year-old Nikola, and the oldest was twenty-five-year-old Petar Mitrovic, who died after 50 days of fighting for his life. The mass murder was committed a day after the multiple murders at the "Vladislav Ribnikar" elementary school in Belgrade.
On May 4 last year, Nikola Milic (14), Aleksandar Milovanovic (17), Marko Mitrovic (18), Lazar Milovanovic (19), Nemanja Stevanovic (21) and Petar Mitrovic (25) were killed in Malo Orasje. Brother and sister Milan (22) and Kristina Panic (19) and Dalibor Todorovic (24) were killed in Dubona.
The city of Smederevo is organizing a commemorative program in Malo Orasje, at the place where Uros Blazic committed a mass murder on May 4 last year.
The Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) called on the media to suspend the program at 10:32 pm, when the mass murder took place.
The higher public prosecutor's office in Smederevo filed an indictment against Uros Blazic for mass murder and he is accused of killing nine people, two of whom were minors, by shooting with an automatic rifle and a pistol. After more than a year in the High Court in Smederevo, a preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 23 before the trial.
The prosecution is asking a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for Uros Balzic and his father R.B.
