
A 14-kilometer section of the Morava Corridor motorway connecting the town of Vrnjacka Banja to Vrba near Kraljevo was officially opened on Wednesday, and will open to traffic starting Thursday, December 25.

The Morava Corridor is 112 kilometers long and connects Pojate and Preljina, traversing the Rasina, Raska, and Moravica districts.
The motorway is designed for speeds of up to 130 km/h and is 30 meters wide, nearly two meters wider than other motorways in Serbia. Construction on the corridor, which began six years ago, is being carried out by the American-Turkish Bechtel-Enka consortium.
With the opening of the Vrnjacka Banja–Vrba section, a total of 72 kilometers of the Morava Corridor have now been completed.
The Wednesday opening ceremony in Novo Selo, near Vrnjacka Banja, was attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure Aleksandra Sofronijevic, Defense Minister Bratislav Gasic, “Roads of Serbia” Director Zoran Drobnjak and Director of “Corridors of Serbia” Aleksandar Antic. Also in attendance were the Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Serbia, Alexander Titolo, Turkish Ambassador İlhan Saygılı, and British Ambassador Edward Ferguson.
