The KRIK investigative portal said that Dragoslav Petrovic, former deputy head of the Vojvodina provincial government, has 1.9 million Swiss Francs in the Credit Suisse bank. Earlier, KRIK reported that the CEO of the Serbian state roads company Zoran Drobnjak had half a million Francs in the same bank. Under Serbian law, Serbian citizens can’t have bank accounts abroad without permission from the National Bank of Serbia (NBS). The KRIK reports are part of the Swiss Secrets project.

The portal said that Petrovic had the account while he held posts in the provincial government. He opened the account in 2010 and had the 1.9 million Francs in it in 2015, a few months before it was closed according to bank data. Petrovic was contacted by phone and said that he did not have an account with Credit Suisse and didn’t know anything about the money, claiming that he was the victim of political persecution. Petrovic was in the Vojvodina government when the Democratic Party (DS) was in power and was accused of embezzlement by the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).

KRIK said that Petrovic’s monthly earnings stood at around 2,500 Euro while he was in government. The portal said that it was told by the NBS that he never applied for permission to open a bank account abroad.
