Vesic was indicted with 12 others for the November 1 collapse of a concrete awning at the city’s main railway station which claimed 15 lives. He was jailed but released before the indictment. The prosecution demanded his detention along with two others but the Novi Sad Higher Court rejected the demand on December 31. The court ruled that Vesic was free, that his two co-defendants would remain in house arrest while the others would remain in jail.

The Appeals Court ordered a review of the Higher Court ruling.

Opposition Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP) official Marinika Tepic reacted to the Appeals Court ruling in an X post, saying that the Higher Court has to rule on Thursday. She also published the names of 3 of the Higher Court judges who she claims tried to keep Vesic out of jail.
