Arrests in Montenegro for illegal gravel exploitation, Deputy PM says

Montenegro's Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic confirmed on Wednesday media reports on the ongoing arrest operation for the illegal gravel exploitation from the Moraca and Cijevna rivers, believed to have caused multimillion-dollar damage.

He tweeted that "several companies are involved, and that those that were not found are also the subject of the processing."

The media reported that at least ten people had been arrested in a large-scale operation.

It was also reported that the police searched 12 construction sites. Several managers and workers who were found at the locations were detained.

According to media reports, Montenegro Petrol and Per Mara companies' workers were brought in for interrogation.

The police also checked the companies Deva, Cijevna Komerc and Celebic, which provided some paperwork to be checked.
