A press release said that Serbia signed the document on accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia, at the 43rd summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2023. It added that cooperation between ASEAN and the signatories of the Treaty included the economy, education and development of personal contacts, science, technology and innovation, and sustainable development.

“Serbia joined this organisation with the aim of continuing cooperation with friendly countries in Southeast Asia, dating back to the period of the Non-Aligned Movement,” the press release said.
