Assault on judge condemned

A statement said that the judge was assaulted because she is handling a demand to declare President Aleksandar Vucic unfit for office. “The assault on judge Mina Mitic is the immediate consequence of continuing attacks on the judiciary as a whole, including harsh verbal abuse and demeaning that judiciary officials have been exposed to over the past few months,” it added.

Mitic told Radar weekly that a masked man came up to her on the street, grabbed her and made threats.

More details of the assault came from one of the anchors of the Mental Exercise talk show on TV Nova Marko Stepanovic who said that Mitic, his childhood friend, called him and said that a man dressed in black wearing a mask, grabbed her arm and twisted it and told her not to screw around. He added that the First Basic Court judge was walking with her underaged son, that the police were called and that Mitic asked him to make the incident public because she feared for her safety.
