Belgrade-Beijing direct flight officially launched
A 'Hainan Airlines' aircraft landed at Belgrade's 'Nikola Tesla' airport Saturday morning, which was the first direct flight between Beijing and the Serbian capital city. The reception organised on this occasion was attended by President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic.
"This is the first direct flight from China to Serbia. For now, the flight will operate once a week, and as of September, October we will fly to China twice a week,” said Vucic, speaking at the airport.
He noted that it takes nine and a half hours to fly between the two cities, and that this airline will be named after 'Mihailo Pupin', a Serbian scientist.
'Hainan Airlines' will be operating only on Saturdays for now.
Vucic said that the flights will attract more tourists and business people to Serbia.
In the coming period, he added, a direct flight to Chicago will also be launched.
